Hospitality Security

Security Systems for Hotels, Motels, Resorts & B&Bs

You're running a hospitality business. That means you've got guests who expect to feel safe, staff who deserve protection, and a property that needs to stay secure around the clock. It's a lot to manage. We can help.

Force Security has been working with hotels, motels, resorts, bed and breakfasts, and vacation rental properties across Niagara Falls, Hamilton, and the GTA since 1988. We understand the unique pressures you're dealing with. High guest turnover means your locks and access points get tested constantly. Late-night check-ins create vulnerability. And you can't have cameras everywhere without making guests uncomfortable.

That's why we design hospitality security systems that balance guest privacy with real protection. Cameras in public areas like lobbies, hallways, and parking lots. Access control that keeps unauthorized people off guest floors. Panic buttons for housekeeping staff. Fire alarm monitoring that meets code. All of it connected to our 24/7 ULC-certified monitoring centre.

Whether you're running a 200-room hotel on Lundy's Lane or a four-room B&B in Niagara-on-the-Lake, you need security that fits your operation. Not some cookie-cutter system designed for office buildings.

Industry Challenges

Security Problems Every Hotel Deals With

Hospitality properties have unique risks that general commercial security doesn't address. Here's what keeps hotel and motel operators up at night.

🏨

Guest Room Theft

Guests leave valuables in rooms. Laptops, passports, jewelry. Without proper access control and audit trails, you've got no way to track who entered a room and when. That's a liability nightmare waiting to happen.

🚪

Lobby & Common Area Security

Your lobby is open to the public. Anyone can walk in. Late at night, that's a real risk for your front desk staff. You need cameras and monitoring that keep your team safe without making guests feel like they're being watched.

🅿️

Parking Lot Break-Ins

Hotel parking lots are prime targets. Guests leave luggage in cars. Vehicles sit unattended for days. Without proper lighting and camera coverage, break-ins happen constantly. And your guests blame you.

🆘

Housekeeping Safety

Your housekeeping staff enter occupied rooms alone. That's a safety risk. Provincial regulations now require panic buttons for hotel workers. If you haven't addressed this yet, you're behind on compliance.

🏊

Pool & Amenity Monitoring

Pools, fitness centres, hot tubs, game rooms. These areas need camera coverage for liability protection. If someone gets hurt and you don't have footage, you're exposed.

🌙

After-Hours Access Control

Most incidents happen between 11 PM and 6 AM. You need a system that restricts access to guest floors, locks down side entrances, and alerts your team when someone's where they shouldn't be.

Our Solutions

What We Install in Hotels & Hospitality Properties

Every hospitality property gets a custom security design. But these are the core systems that most hotels, motels, and resorts end up needing.

📹 Security Cameras

High-definition cameras for lobbies, hallways, parking lots, loading docks, and amenity areas. Remote video monitoring lets you check feeds from anywhere. Night vision and analytics catch what your staff might miss.

🔐 Access Control

Keycard and fob systems for guest floors, staff-only areas, back offices, and storage rooms. Full audit trails show you exactly who went where and when. Integrate with your property management system for automatic key deactivation at checkout.

🆘 Panic Buttons

Wearable panic buttons for housekeeping staff that meet provincial workplace safety requirements. One press sends a silent alert with the worker's location to security or management. This isn't optional anymore. It's the law.

🔥 Fire Alarm Monitoring

Commercial fire alarm systems with 24/7 ULC-certified monitoring. Smoke, heat, and CO detection across every floor. Automatic notification to the fire department. Meets all fire code requirements for hospitality occupancies.

💧 Water Leak Detection

Hotels are especially vulnerable to water damage. A burst pipe in one room can destroy the rooms below. Water leak sensors catch problems early. Automatic shut-off valves stop the damage before it costs you thousands.

🔔 Intercom & Video Entry

Video intercom systems for staff entrances, loading docks, and gated parking areas. Your front desk can verify visitors before buzzing them in. Keeps unauthorized people out without requiring extra staff at every entrance.

Niagara Falls Hotels

Niagara Falls Hotels Need Serious Security

Let's talk about Niagara Falls specifically. It's one of Canada's biggest tourist destinations. Millions of visitors every year. That means hotels there are running at high occupancy for months straight. Constant guest turnover. Packed parking lots. Busy lobbies at all hours.

That volume creates real security challenges. More guests means more room entries, more lost keycards, more strangers wandering the halls. The Fallsview corridor alone has dozens of hotels stacked together, and crime stats in tourist zones tend to run higher than surrounding areas.

We've been based in the Niagara region since 1988. We know the area. We know the seasonal patterns. We know that your security needs are different in July than they are in January. And we design systems that account for that.

  • High-capacity access control for 100+ room properties
  • Parking lot cameras with license plate capture
  • Seasonal monitoring adjustments for peak tourist months
  • Integration with property management systems
  • Local technicians who can respond same-day in Niagara Falls

Who We Serve

Hospitality Properties We Protect

We don't just do big hotels. We work with hospitality businesses of every size. Here's who we typically help.

🏨

Hotels

Full-service and limited-service hotels from 50 to 500+ rooms. Multi-floor access control, elevator restrictions, and lobby monitoring.

🛏️

Motels

Exterior-corridor motels need extra parking lot coverage, outdoor hallway cameras, and strong perimeter lighting. We design for that layout.

🏔️

Resorts

Large properties with pools, spas, restaurants, and event spaces. Multiple buildings, lots of ground to cover. We tie it all into one system.

🏡

Bed & Breakfasts

Smaller properties still need access control, front door cameras, and fire monitoring. We scale the system to fit your size and budget.

🔑

Vacation Rentals

Airbnbs and short-term rentals need smart locks, exterior cameras, and noise monitoring. Protect your property when you're not there.

🎪

Event Venues

Banquet halls, conference centres, and wedding venues with fluctuating guest counts. Access control that adapts to event schedules.

🏛️

Conference Centres

Large-scale meeting facilities with multiple entry points. Credential-based access, camera coverage, and building automation for energy management.

Common Questions

Hotel Security Questions We Get All the Time

Do hotels in Canada legally need panic buttons for housekeeping staff?

Yes. Provincial workplace safety legislation increasingly requires employers to protect workers who enter occupied rooms alone. Several provinces have enacted or are enacting specific requirements for wearable panic devices in hospitality settings. Even where it's not explicitly mandated yet, it's considered a best practice under general workplace safety obligations. Our panic button systems meet all current requirements and we'll help you stay compliant as regulations evolve.

Can you install security cameras in hotel hallways without violating guest privacy?

Yes. Cameras in hallways, lobbies, parking lots, elevators, and other common areas are standard practice and fully legal. You just can't put cameras inside guest rooms, bathrooms, or any area where someone has a reasonable expectation of privacy. We design camera placement that maximizes coverage of public and common areas while respecting guest privacy completely.

How does hotel access control work with guest keycards?

Modern access control systems integrate with your property management software. When a guest checks in, their keycard gets programmed for their specific room and floor. When they check out, the card deactivates automatically. Staff cards have different permissions. Housekeeping gets access to rooms during shift hours only. Management gets broader access. Everything is logged with timestamps so you always have a full audit trail.

What's the best security camera setup for a hotel parking lot?

We typically recommend a combination of wide-angle cameras covering the full lot, plus higher-resolution cameras at entry and exit points for license plate capture. All cameras should have night vision and be weatherproof. For larger lots, we add analytics that detect loitering and unusual activity. The key is eliminating blind spots, especially between rows of cars and near stairwells. Remote video monitoring means someone's watching even when your staff isn't.

How much does a hotel security system cost?

It depends entirely on your property's size and what you need. A 20-room motel with basic cameras and fire monitoring is very different from a 300-room hotel with access control on every floor, panic buttons, water sensors, and video analytics. We do free on-site assessments and give you real numbers. No ballpark estimates or surprise charges. Monthly monitoring typically runs between $50-$200 depending on the system's complexity.

Can you integrate security with our existing property management system?

In most cases, yes. Modern access control platforms can integrate with popular PMS software so that guest credentials, check-in/check-out status, and room assignments sync automatically. We'll assess your current PMS during the site visit and let you know exactly what's possible. Even if full integration isn't available, we can set up workflows that minimize manual work for your front desk team.

What happens if a hotel fire alarm goes off at 3 AM?

Our monitoring centre gets the signal immediately. Within seconds, a trained operator verifies the alarm and dispatches the fire department to your address. They'll also call your designated on-site contact. The whole thing happens in under 60 seconds. With ULC-certified fire monitoring, your property meets fire code requirements and your insurance company gets the documentation they need.

Do you provide security for Airbnb and short-term rental properties?

Yes. Short-term rentals have their own set of challenges. You need exterior cameras (never interior ones), smart locks that generate unique codes for each guest, noise monitoring to prevent parties, and water leak detection for when nobody's checking on the property. We design systems that let you manage everything remotely from your phone. Check our water leak detection page for more on protecting unoccupied properties.
