24/7 Alarm Monitoring

Professional Alarm Monitoring for Homes and Businesses in Niagara, Hamilton & Toronto

Your alarm system is only as good as what happens when it goes off. If nobody's listening, it's just a loud noise that your neighbours will ignore after about 30 seconds. That's the difference between a monitored alarm and one that isn't. 24/7 alarm monitoring means trained operators are watching your property around the clock and dispatching emergency services the moment something goes wrong.

Force Security has been providing ULC-certified alarm monitoring for homes and businesses across the Niagara Region, Hamilton, and Greater Toronto Area since 1988. Our monitoring centre operates every hour of every day. No holidays off. No "we'll check in the morning." When your alarm triggers at 3 AM on a Tuesday or 6 PM on Christmas Day, our operators respond in seconds.

We monitor everything from home security systems to commercial security systems. Intrusion alarms, fire alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, panic buttons, flood sensors. If it can signal a problem, we're watching it.

And unlike TELUS, ADT, or Bell, we don't lock you into a multi-year contract. You stay with us because our monitoring is reliable and our service is good. Not because some contract says you have to.

How It Works

What Happens When Your Alarm Goes Off

From alarm trigger to emergency response, here's exactly how our monitoring centre protects your property. The whole process takes under 60 seconds.

1

Alarm Triggers

A sensor picks up something wrong. Door opened, motion in the hallway, smoke in the kitchen, glass shattering. Your system fires off a signal over its cellular connection immediately.

2

Signal Received

Our ULC-certified monitoring centre gets the signal within seconds. The operator's screen lights up showing exactly which sensor went off and where.

3

Verification Call

The operator calls your phone right away. If you pick up and give your password, false alarm sorted. If you don't answer or you say "yeah, someone's in my house," we jump straight to Step 4.

4

Emergency Dispatch

Police, fire, or medical services are dispatched to your property. Our operators have direct lines to local emergency services across Niagara, Hamilton, and the GTA.

Two-way voice: Many modern panels have built-in speakers and microphones. Our operators can talk directly through your panel to verify what's happening. No phone call needed.

What Our Monitoring Centre Watches For

Alarm monitoring isn't just about break-ins. We watch for fire, flooding, carbon monoxide, temperature problems, panic situations. One monitoring centre, one monthly fee, everything covered.

🚪

Intrusion Detection

Door and window sensors, motion detectors, glass break sensors. If someone enters your property without authorization, we know about it immediately and dispatch police.

🔥

Fire and Smoke Alarms

Monitored smoke and heat detectors alert our centre even when you're not home. We dispatch fire services immediately. Way faster than waiting for a neighbour to notice.

☁️

Carbon Monoxide Detection

CO is invisible and odorless. You literally can't tell it's there until you're already sick. Our monitored CO detectors catch it and we get help to you fast. Ontario law requires CO detectors near all sleeping areas in homes with fuel-burning appliances.

💧

Flood and Water Sensors

Basement flooding causes thousands in damage. Our water sensors catch leaks from burst pipes, sump pump failures, or appliance malfunctions before the damage gets out of hand.

🆘

Panic and Duress Alarms

One button press sends a silent signal to our monitoring centre. Used for medical emergencies at home or robbery situations at businesses. Help is dispatched without the intruder knowing.

🌡️

Temperature Monitoring

Pipes freeze. Furnaces fail. Server rooms overheat. Our temperature sensors alert you before extreme heat or cold causes damage. Especially important for cottages, warehouses, and vacant properties.

Home security monitoring across Niagara Falls, Hamilton, and the GTA means you stop worrying. Your system watches the doors, the windows, the smoke detectors, the CO sensors. Business Security Monitoring

Alarm Monitoring for Your Business

Your business is empty 16 hours a day. That's 16 hours where nobody's watching the inventory, the equipment, the cash. Business alarm monitoring means somebody is always watching. Even at 2 AM on a long weekend.

🏢 After-Hours Intrusion

Most break-ins happen when the building is empty. Weekends, holidays, overnight. Our monitoring catches them right away and gets police rolling. Verified alarm signals get bumped to the front of the line at dispatch.

🔥 Fire Code Compliance

Lots of commercial buildings need monitored fire alarms just to stay code-compliant. Our ULC-certified monitoring satisfies fire marshal requirements. If the inspector asks, you're covered.

🆘 Hold-Up and Panic Alarms

Silent panic buttons mounted under retail counters, reception desks, wherever your staff needs them. One press and police are on the way. The person on the other side of the counter has no idea.

📹 Video Verification

Pair your alarm with video monitoring and our operators can see what triggered the alarm in real time. Verified alarms get faster police response than unverified ones.

🔑 Open/Close Reports

Know exactly when your business opens and closes each day. Get alerts if someone arms or disarms outside of normal hours. Useful for tracking employee schedules and unusual activity.

🌡️ Environmental Protection

Temperature, humidity, and water sensors protect inventory, servers, and equipment. Get alerted before a freezer failure ruins $50,000 in stock or a burst pipe floods your office.

ULC Certification

What ULC-Certified Monitoring Actually Means

Every alarm company says "24/7 monitoring" on their website. But there's a huge difference between a call centre with a couple people answering phones and a properly certified monitoring operation. The difference is ULC certification.

ULC (Underwriters Laboratories of Canada) is the Canadian standard for alarm monitoring. To get certified, a monitoring centre has to meet strict requirements for staffing, backup power, redundant communication paths, operator training, and response times. ULC auditors show up unannounced to make sure everything still meets the standard.

Here's why you should care: Canadian insurance companies look for ULC certification when handing out discounts on home and business insurance. Most insurers flat-out won't give you the security discount unless your monitored alarm system is ULC-certified. That discount is typically 5-20% off your premiums. Real money.

  • Meets ULC S561 standard for central station alarm monitoring
  • Redundant power, communication, and staffing requirements
  • Regular unannounced audits to verify compliance
  • Recognized by all major Canadian insurance companies
  • We provide a monitoring certificate for your insurer
  • The monitoring discount often pays for the service itself

Ask your insurer: Call your insurance company and ask about their discount for a ULC-certified monitored alarm system. Then compare that savings to the cost of monitoring. A lot of our customers find the monitoring basically pays for itself.

No Contracts

No-Contract Alarm Monitoring

TELUS locks you in for 3 years. Vivint goes up to 60 months. Bell and ADT aren't much better. You sign on the dotted line and then you're stuck paying even if the service is terrible. Want to leave early? That'll be hundreds or thousands in cancellation fees.

Force Security does things differently. We offer flexible monitoring agreements without the multi-year commitment. Our approach is simple: provide reliable monitoring and good service, and customers stay because they want to. Not because a contract forces them.

This isn't some gimmick or limited-time offer. We've been doing it this way since 1988 and it works. When you know your customers can leave at any time, you make sure the alarm monitoring is actually worth paying for. That's accountability the big companies don't have. Plenty of families and business owners across Niagara Falls, Hamilton, and Toronto have switched to us from TELUS and ADT for exactly this reason.

  • No multi-year contract lock-in
  • No cancellation fees or early termination penalties
  • Same ULC-certified monitoring the big companies charge more for
  • No "promotional rate" that doubles after 12 months
  • Transparent pricing. The rate we quote is the rate you pay.

Common Questions

Alarm Monitoring Questions We Get All the Time

How does 24/7 alarm monitoring actually work?

Your alarm system is connected to our monitoring centre through a cellular signal. When a sensor triggers, the signal hits our centre in seconds. A trained operator sees exactly what happened and where, calls your contact number to verify, and dispatches emergency services if needed. The whole process from alarm trigger to dispatch takes under a minute.

How much does alarm monitoring cost?

Monitoring plans vary depending on what you need. Basic intrusion monitoring for a home is the most affordable option. Add fire, CO, flood, and smart home features and the cost goes up a bit. We'll give you exact numbers based on your setup. No vague "starting at" pricing. And remember, the insurance discount from ULC-certified monitoring often covers a big chunk of the monthly cost.

Do I really need monitoring? Can't I just have a loud alarm?

Sure. But think about what actually happens: the alarm goes off, your neighbours peek through the blinds, somebody might call police. Eventually. Maybe. Be honest, when was the last time you heard a car alarm and actually did something about it? We've all been trained to ignore alarms. With monitoring, a real person responds in seconds and gets help on the way. For fire and CO especially, those seconds matter a lot.

What about false alarms? Do I get fined?

Some municipalities do charge for repeated false alarm dispatches. That's exactly why we call you first before sending police. If you pick up and say "sorry, I burned the toast again," we cancel the dispatch. No fine. We also use smarter sensors that cut down on false alarms before they happen. Pet-immune motion detectors, proper sensor placement, that kind of thing. False alarms are annoying for everyone, so we work hard to keep them rare.

Does my alarm need a phone line to be monitored?

Nope. Almost nobody uses phone lines for alarm monitoring anymore. Our systems connect over cellular networks. It's more reliable and way more secure. A phone line can be cut from outside your house in about 10 seconds. A cellular signal can't be cut at all. If your system is still on a phone line, upgrading to cellular is one of the first things we'd recommend.

What is ULC certification and why should I care?

ULC stands for Underwriters Laboratories of Canada. It's the standard that insurance companies look for. A ULC-certified monitoring centre has to meet strict requirements for staffing, backup power, redundant communication, and response times. They get audited regularly. The practical benefit for you? Your insurance company will give you a discount (usually 5-20% off your premiums) when your alarm is monitored by a ULC-certified centre. Many insurers won't give the discount otherwise.

How much can I save on insurance with monitored alarms?

It depends on your insurer and your policy, but 5-20% off your home or business insurance premiums is typical. We'll give you a monitoring certificate that you send to your insurance company. Some of our customers save enough on insurance to cover most or all of their monitoring cost. It's worth a quick call to your insurer to ask what their discount is before you decide.

What happens to my alarm during a power outage?

Every alarm panel we install has a backup battery built in. Power goes out? Battery takes over. Most backups last 4-24 hours depending on the panel. If the battery starts getting low, the panel tells us. You're protected even when the rest of the street is dark.

Can I control my alarm from my phone?

Yes. Our mobile app lets you arm and disarm your system, check the status of every sensor, get push notifications for alarm events, and view your event history. If your system includes smart home features like smart locks or smart thermostats, you can control those from the same app. It works from anywhere with an internet connection.

Can you monitor my existing alarm system?

In most cases, yes. If you have a DSC, Honeywell, or similar industry-standard panel, we can connect it to our monitoring centre. We might need to swap the communication module to cellular, but the rest of your equipment usually stays. We offer a free alarm system takeover assessment where we check your equipment and tell you exactly what's needed.

How fast do you respond to an alarm?

Fast. Our operators respond within seconds of the signal landing. The cellular transmission itself is nearly instant. From the moment your sensor trips to the moment our operator is looking at it on screen, we're talking under 30 seconds. Then dispatch happens right after verification. We can't control how fast police or fire actually get to your door. But we can promise we get them called out as quickly as humanly possible.

Is business alarm monitoring different from home monitoring?

The monitoring itself works the same way. But business accounts usually come with extras. Open/close reports so you know when your place is armed and disarmed each day. Hold-up buttons for retail. Fire code compliance monitoring. Multi-site management if you've got more than one location. We build the package around what your business actually needs, not a one-size-fits-all plan.

Can I switch monitoring companies without replacing my equipment?

Usually, yes. Most alarm panels can be reprogrammed to connect to a different monitoring centre. We reprogram your panel, swap the communication module if needed, and connect you to our centre. Your sensors and wiring stay exactly where they are. The whole process is called an alarm system takeover and it's one of our most popular services.

Do you require a long-term monitoring contract?

Nope. No multi-year contracts. TELUS, ADT, and Vivint all lock you in for 3-5 years. We've always thought that was backwards. If our service is good, you'll stick around. If it's not, you should be able to walk. We've been running it this way since 1988 and our retention numbers prove the approach works.
