Mississauga Home Invasion Highlights the Importance of Home Security

Recent incidents of burglaries and home invasions across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) are alarming residents and reinforcing the urgent need for enhanced home and business security measures.

Mississauga Home Invasion Leaves Victim Hospitalized

Mississauga Region

On October 15 at approximately 12:30 PM, three suspects broke into a home near Glen Erin Dr. and Burnhamthorpe Rd. in Mississauga. The homeowner, who was inside during the incident, attempted to intervene but was shot by one of the suspects. The victim was rushed to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle stolen earlier in Toronto. Shortly after, police arrested one of the suspects during an attempted home invasion in Toronto. Investigators have linked the individual to additional home burglaries on October 12 and 14 in Brampton and Mississauga.

Toronto Business Break-In Adds to Crime Wave

In a separate string of incidents, Toronto police arrested 54-year-old Peter Maroulis for multiple break-ins across the city, including a burglary on November 5. At around 4:30 AM, officers responded to reports of a break-and-enter at a business near Danforth Avenue and Logan Avenue in Riverdale.

Maroulis allegedly stole various items from the shop before fleeing. Investigators have connected him to several other burglaries in the area, and he now faces seven counts of breaking and entering, along with 21 counts of breaching probation. He is set to appear at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre.
